At the most recent AGM we had a change of trustees, with Jenny Wilcox, Jayne Gore and Jackie Goode all stepping down to make way for new blood! Many thanks to the three ladies for all their input over the years, but special mention must be made of Jenny Wilcox, who saw both of her daughters through MYT and ended up being a trustee for nearly 20 years! A bouquet was given to Jenny at the meeting, a very small … Continue reading
Those of you who are involved with MYT will know that for almost twelve months were were trying to find funding to buy the old Welshpool Social Club building (the Workies) so that we could have a base of our own from which to work. Our first attempt at a bid for lottery funding failed, but we were encouraged to try again. Whilst this process was ongoing, we discovered that the building would be going for auction at the end … Continue reading
This year’s devised production, ‘The Trouble with Joe’ took place at Theatr Clera on Easter Saturday – 15th April. Thanks to all of you who attended and supported us once again, and from the reaction and comments that we received we are pleased to say that it was a huge success. Although at MYT we are well known for our ability to do comedy (if you have been to one of the murder mystery fundraising evening that we perform each … Continue reading
We are terribly sad to announce that Ginny Graham has passed away. Ginny set up Montgomeryshire Youth Theatre in 1983 and was not only the founder but also the creative and administrative director until she passed the mantle on to me in 2010. All who passed through her hands as students, and all those who worked with her and knew her, will agree that she was a creative tour de force who had a massive impact on the lives … Continue reading
This year’s AGM will be held at Theatr Clera, Welshpool High School on Wednesday 25th November at 6pm. Both the Junior and Intermediate groups will be showing what they get up to in sessions, with intermediate students introducing and leading the games and exercises themselves. There will also be a raffle, and the meeting will be finished by approximately 7pm.
We are sad to announce that Hugh Pitt will be standing down as Treasurer at this year’s AGM. Hugh has been a Trustee of MYT since 2010 and his input, support and down to earth common sense attitude have been very much appreciated. We wish Hugh the very best in the future and hope to see him at future productions.
Now that Ffion and Amy have settled into leading the Junior sessions we decided that it was safe to increase the group numbers (which we had purposely kept low whilst the staff changeover took place). We held a free taster session on Wednesday 9th September for those currently in school years 4, 5 and 6 to come along and find out what we get up to. The result is that the group has now increased from 8 to 18 in number, and currently … Continue reading
The major production of 2016 will be The Insect Play by The Brothers Capek. It will be held at Theatr Clera, Welshpool High School on Easter Saturday, 26th March at 7pm, and more details will be published nearer the time. All of the seniors and some of the intermediates will be taking part and we will let you know when tickets become available. The story tells of a tramp who falls asleep in the woods and dreams of observing a range of insects that stand … Continue reading
