Herod and the Massacre of the Innocents and Mummers Play (Jan 2008)

The invitation by TASC to take part in the Twelfth Night celebrations at Llandinam gave us the opportunity to work on one of the earliest plays written in English, from the Chester Mystery Cycle, and to create our own version of a traditional mummers’ play. This was done as a kind of “winter project”, combining the sacred and the secular, with a small group working at high speed during the December break.

The results were great fun, and the participants thoroughly enjoyed their involvement in these mid-winter revels.
